BRIAN+CARLEY – EDGEWOOD, WA

In the midst of finals, proposals, and term papers I managed to shoot Brian and Carley’s wedding this past Monday. It was really cold but we managed to get some great shots outdoors despite the frost and the ability to see everyone’s breath. Enjoy the preview, more will be added later!

GUESS WHO IS ENGAGED?!?!

ME!!!! Scroll down to read a little bit about it!

We’d been dating for over a year and a half but been friends for about 5 years including the 6 months we dated in 2004. So by now she’s been kinda preparing for it, trying to look at my bank statements, checking my pockets for boxes and stuff like that. I knew I really wanted to surprise her so once I finally got the ring [it took 3 weeks to get the right band and mounting correct] I planned out a time where she’d be completely caught off guard.

I’ve been really stressed lately, taking on waaay too many projects and just getting hammered with papers and finals and stuff for school. I finally got to turn in all my papers yesterday morning after an all-nighter [well 2 hours of actual sleep]. I was wiped out, but she came over that afternoon for a bit and we hung out and had dinner before we went to our weekly bible study with some friends.

Now like I said, she’d been kinda checking for rings in my pockets and all over so I hid the ring in a guitar pick holder I have on my keychain and went trying to act as laid back and normal as possible.

When we went to leave I walked over to her side of the car to open her door and when I did, I asked her if she remembered that at this very spot we had our first kiss? She said yes, and then I told her that I loved her.

This is pretty huge because I never had told her that and decided that I wanted to wait to tell a girl that I loved her when I knew I’d be spending the rest of my life with her.

She looked at me, eyes wide open as I got down on one knee and asked her to marry me. She kept saying, “no no no no no” because she thought I was joking, but she saw the ring and I said, “I’m serious babe, I want to spend the rest of my life with you.” She grabbed the ring and we shared an enormous hug because we put the ring on and she said yes and that she loved me too!

SEAHAWKS // REDSKINS

I know this image is a little back focused but I LOVE the expression!

One of the things I enjoy about photography is capturing emotions and documenting events. Sometimes things suck but I still shoot it…

Here is Matt Hasselbeck right after he threw an interception to end the hawks chances of a comeback. Bummer…

PHOTO OF THE WEEK // NOVEMBER 23RD

It is pretty early in the new week, but I saw this photo on my desktop and really wanted to share. With the Seahawks and Huskies doing so poorly I really needed a little boost of paradise… so this is Waimea Bay, Oahu from my trip to Hawaii in September.

SEAHAWKS // CARDINALS

It was military tribute day this past week at the Seahawks // Cardinals game and the national anthem sung by none other than big Kenny Loggins [of the Top Gun fame] was one of the coolest moments I’ve had as a sports fan in America. As Loggins sang, the megaton began showing photos of soldiers in Iraq with their 12th Man flags adorning helicopters and their humvees and gave me a sense of pride and respect to those soldiers serving for our country in Iraq and how lucky I was to even be able to watch a football game in peace. Then at “the rockets red glare” a swell of pride came over every single Seahawks fan in the entire stadium as what I’m told were four Chinook Helicopters flew overhead with 12th Man flags attached to the bottom of their hulls. When the anthem was wrapped up the Hawks entered the stadium with Lofa Tatupu running out with the stars and stripes instead of the usual 12th Man flag in respect to our Veterans and active military. It was honestly an amazing intro to the game and all I could do was stand on the sidelines with the biggest smile on my face and enjoying every second of it.

The game started and the place was pumped to have Mr. Matt Hasselback in at QB…

And Deion Branch back in our receiving core!

At one point I looked at the stats and big TJ Duckett had rushed 5 times for 5 years and 2 touchdowns. Talk about making the most of a carry!

Go Hawks!
