I listened to the album over and over and came to the conclusion that I wanted to photograph them in a dark environment that still incorporated warm tones. My old studio space in Tacoma seemed like the ideal location with it’s industrial feel and old wood. I also shot the majority on old film cameras for some additional grit in the film grain. The album is a lot more emotionally complex than their previous records and I wanted to make sure that came through in the photographs as well.
Take a listen to the album, it’s one of my 2016 favorites.
Songs like Madness, Relent, My Joy Is Complete, & Doubting Doubts are highlights for me.
